The Center for Perinatal Mental Health is focused on applied clinical research in the area of psychosocial health and well-being in women during the perinatal period and during maternity and parental leave. The main aim of the Centre's activities is the comprehensive development and testing of innovative approaches in the prevention and treatment of perinatal mental disorders, and their subsequent implementation in practice. Other activities of the Centre include education of the society on perinatal mental health issues and preparation of educational activities within the framework of lifelong professional education of professionals working with women in the perinatal period or on maternity and parental leave. The target groups of the activities of the Centre for Perinatal Mental Health also include men in the early stages of fatherhood.

The Centre for Perinatal Mental Health is actively involved in the clinical care of NIMH in outpatient and inpatient care for pregnant and postpartum women.
